Don't get scared away by the thought of making homemade crackers! In fact they are way easier than making pizza dough or pie crust. Nothing needs to rise and no kneading needs to take place. It's a simple mix and press into a pan. Really simple, really!
When it's time for a holiday party with friends and family appetizers and snacks are a must. Everyone likes to eat picky finger food while waiting for the main course or at least that's how we do it in my family.
No need to buy expensive crackers when you can make healthier ones at home. Six ingredients plus water is all you need for this recipe!
I used a large 12 by 18 inch baking sheet and a small 9 by 12 inch baking sheet. I didn't even use a rolling pin but you can. I just pressed the dough down with my fingers and spread it out as thin as I could. Not perfect. Not even in my scoring work here either, but RUSTIC and natural and HOMEMADE!!
Crisp and delicious and no preservatives or artificial anything in these babies! Once out of the oven cut the scores and let cool.
Totally uneven but I don't care and neither should you! Your guests will be amazed you made your own crackers and the taste will win them over for sure!

Homemade Oat Sesame Crackers {Gluten Free}
[sc:Ziplist]
Ingredients
- 2 cups gluten free flour ( I used King Arthur)
- 1 ½ cups rolled oats
- 1 cup oat flour
- 1 ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 ¼ cup water
- ¾ cup coconut oil, melted
- ½ cup sesame seeds
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl stir together the first four ingredients. Blend the water and oil together in another bowl. Pour the oil mixture into the flour bowl and combine thoroughly. Mix in half the sesame seeds.Divide the dough in half and roll each piece onto a parchment lined cookie sheet, ⅛-1/16 inch thickness. Sprinkle remaining sesame seeds and press into dough. Score. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the center cracker is crisp and they are a light golden brown. Cut the scored crackers and allow to cool. Store in an airtight container. Makes 100 crackers.

I made these today. They turned out great. I did reduce the amount of oil and add more water instead. Very easy dough to work with, and both my kids and I like them.

Thanks for sharing Lizzy!

Do you think it would be okay if I used garbonzo flour instead if a flour mix?
Brenda
I'm sorry I've never used that flour so I don't know how the texture would be.
Bonnie
I am on a seed-free diet....would these work if I ground the seeds & added or could I eliminate them all together?
Brenda
You could just eliminate these sesame seeds in the recipe.
Bonnie
OK-thanks. didn't know if it would affect the taste or if there was something else to flavor it with.
