This year has been full of so many wonderful low-carb recipes, low-carb meals and of course sugar free desserts!
Out of the 20 top best low carb keto recipes I'm sharing for 2023, 10 of them are sugar free dessert recipes and the other 10 delicious recipes are savory recipes, believe it or not!
Whether you're on a keto diet, or you're a low-carb dieter, all of the keto-friendly recipes I share can be enjoyed on any healthy diet since they are all healthy recipes using low carb sweeteners to substitute regular sugar. That means, none of these recipes will cause blood sugar levels to spike.
I personally avoid artificial sweeteners because when I started using Splenda and Aspartame the first time I went sugar free back in 2004, I noticed I was still experiencing sugar cravings.
So I started using stevia back in 2006 as my natural sweetener of choice in my sugar free recipes. I did try using natural sugar, like maple syrup, and while it was good to make recipes for my kids, it still caused cravings for me and constantly wanting more. I also stay away from sugar alcohol products like Maltitol, and Sorbitol as they have caused me severe GI distress!
Everyone will have a different experience with keto-friendly sweeteners, but I've found the best results so that I don't experience cravings when using Monk Fruit sweetener, Stevia, Allulose and Erythritol. In some people, any sweet taste even in a small amount will cause a reaction, even if these keto sweeteners do not spike blood glucose.
The first step is really learning what sugar substitute works best for you on your low-carb lifestyle. If you're a new follower, and want to try the keto diet in the new year but unsure what your personal carb intake should be, this post might help you decide.
