After reading the book,“Hungry for Change – Ditch the Diets, Conquer the Cravings, and Eat Your Way to Lifelong",
I knew I wanted to try a 3 Day Cleanse for myself. Seeing the Skinny Ms. site advertise the book and cleanse I was ready to give it a try. Since I already eat quite healthy, no refined flours or sugars, I didn't think I'd notice much difference in 3 days. How wrong I was! I am lactose intolerant, but do have some dairy. Removing all forms of dairy, removing animal protein except for egg whites in my smoothies and also removing certain carbs for the cleanse was just what I needed. I felt fantastic and a lot less bloated too and I didn't even remove the caffeine as suggested.
So this 3 day cleanse is simply an adaption from the book I read. It really helped clean my insides so to speak! If you are unsure as to why a cleanse is helpful to your body you can read this post by my friend, Dr. Heather Manley: Get Clean: How and Why to Cleanse. And if you like Dr.Oz, here's a link to his 3 day cleanse.
If you have been unable to kick the sugar habit, this cleanse will certainly kick start you into gear!

MY RESULTS 12-6-12:
I was pleasantly surprised and shocked my body didn't have a caffeine withdrawal from not having my usual 3 cups of coffee in a day. To be honest I thought I would be sluggish and extremely tired as well, I was NOT! In fact I even fell asleep each night without trouble (usually I need to take melatonin). I wasn't hungry during the cleanse and I certainly didn't crave anything in particular, (I think the lemon water/tea really helped with that), but by the 3rd day I really wanted some meat and potatoes, oh and some popcorn with the kids!I am definitely less bloated and my stomach is flatter which after 3 C-sections....ha! you get the point! I haven't weighed myself yet but I will later and check back and let you know. Also, I've had no stomach digestion issues either. Most likely it is from the small amount of dairy I like to have regularly...... ok ok more like daily and I'm dairy intolerant, shame on me.
I lost 2 pounds which is great since this wasn't about losing weight anyway. For me it is pretty awesome since I'm already at an average weight and I didn't starve myself in 3 days to lose 2 pounds.
Lesson of the Cleanse for me: Incorporating a green smoothie each morning started me on a healthy note, a good attitude, a lighter "skip in my step" as opposed to eating my usual oatmeal/eggs. I think I may have a green smoothie Mon-Fri and enjoy a regular breakfast on the weekends. I also realized if I want to fall asleep without trouble I must eliminate the coffee in the afternoon and have tea or decaf. I am hoping I can have just a morning coffee without wanting more. 🙂 As far as the food I eliminated, I know I can not be a vegetarian full time that is for sure, I want meat! BUT I think eliminating it once or twice a week is a great idea because I feel the all the veggies could do their job and release toxins in my body without having to digest animal protein. So for the next two days I am only having some meat at dinner and will continue with the green smoothies and soup/ salad at lunch until the weekend.
Please share your results or what you learned from doing this cleanse.

I just woke to start day three of this cleanse. It was easier than I thought but temptations were challenging. I even made the trip to McDonald's and back with lunch for 2 co-workers yesterday!! The day is just starting but the scale has me down 3.5 lbs this morning!!!!!!!!! I feel great too. Now I just need to continue good habits and restart my workouts to keep this trend going!
Brenda
WOW! That is fantastic!! Good for you!

Hi-
I have been a fan for a few months now and refer your site to anyone and everyone looking to make improvements in their lives, so thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and efforts! It has really helped me to get to a place I have been aiming for...I am just finishing up this detox/ cleanse and wanted to give some feed back. First, I loved the ease of the menu items. I have come to realize that eating right takes time and thought. You have to be prepared. So I made a shopping list and actually sent my hubby to the store! I love the morning tea. I have only recently started drinking tea and have acquired an affinity for the green tea with jasmine. The lemon adds a little zing that I enjoy just that much more! I made the soup first and then the quinoa salad with balsamic dressing. Both were better than I could have hoped for. I did not experience hunger pangs or cravings that first day and was super excited to hit the gym and still be going strong by the time I picked the kids up from school around 4 pm. I usually want a nap from 2-4 pm. I have been reading others' posts and it seems I am an anomaly in that the first night I experienced a pretty significant bout of insomnia. I finally fell into a fitful rest around 4 am. Tried a different smoothie the second day and it too is something I will use over and over again. The lack of sleep didn't seem to affect me all that much throughout the day and into the evening. I didn't have as much trouble falling asleep but could have easily stayed up later. And today, here it is almost 11pm and I am still up...heading to bed shortly though. I feel great and wanted to thank you again! I am actually thinking about staying away from gluten and meat and most dairy for a bit longer. Blessing to you and your family for a fantastic 2013!

I am going to be starting this on Saturday. It will take me up until Christmas day! Than I can eat a nice meal. I do not want to ruin my current weight loss during the holidays and I am at a plateau. Hoping this kick starts my metabolism and I loose some weight (1-3 lbs?). Thank you for posting. I'll post my results for others.

I really like all of the vegetables, I feel less bloated and really not interested in adding meat back right now. My digestion is much better.
Kathy
After completing the 3 day cleanse I learned, as you did, that I am not interested in becoming a vegetarian because by day three I was thinking about what meat I was going to have the next day. 🙂 Other than that, it went very smoothly and I feel wonderful. Thanks to your site and some others, I feel I have been detoxing my body over the last couple of months which made this 3 day cleanse much easier. I didn't have cravings because I haven't been eating those things for awhile anyway. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences, your recipes, and your knowledge with all of us! I did the evening detox baths that were on Dr. Oz's sight, and those were wonderful. The lavender made my skin so soft!
Chloe
Thanks so much for posting this and also for your encouragement throughout the cleanse. I followed it closely and I feel great! I was never a coffee drinker and usually only drink green tea. I actually swapped it out for white tea a few times to cut back on caffeine even more. The recipes were great and it gave me a chance to try new foods - yaayy fennel and quinoa! Surprisingly I lost 4 lbs, even though weight loss was not the goal. I think it was good for my metabolism, as it has been so sluggish lately. I was honestly never hungry because I ate a ton of raw veggies and kept hydrated. I definitely feel de-toxed and cleansed! Thanks again!
Brenda
Thanks so much for sharing chloe! Thanks for sharing your results and 4 pounds is amazing too! But I agree it wasn't even about weight loss more for detoxing. I'm so glad you liked the recipes!

I am going to continue with some of the aspects of this detox. I am loving the lemon water, the ginger tea and detox tea. I am going to try at least one day a week of detox, cause one day was easy.
Brenda
Awesome Rhonda!

I am starting tomorrow. Heading out today to do the grocery shopping. I've been sick for the past week and my 6 kids (3 foster and 3 bio) have been taking turns with the flu. My insides are in need of a detox after last week! I love the collard green recipe but have no way of purchasing them... could I use romaine wraps instead?
Jennifer
My mom, my husband and I will be starting on Tuesday, 12/4. My mom and I finished the PRISM program but still have a little way to go with our weight loss. I found your site and love your recipes! So grateful for all of your work!
Brenda
I'm so glad you found me. Did you know I was a Prism leader? How did you find me?
Janine
I am starting tomorrow too. Looking forward to it.

So i want to make sure i understand this right before i start, your supposed to pick one of the wake up drinks and have it each morning. On the smoothies are you only supposed to pick one and stick to it for the 3 days or can you mix it up and your supposed to have it twice a day? On the meals are you only to pick two meals for the 3 days and are you only supposed to have one meal a day or two?
Brenda
You can certainly do any smoothie each morning but for shopping sake I suggested just to pick one and do that for 3 days but have one of each if you like. It's recommend to have two green smoothies a day and one of the meals but if that doesn't seem like enough food then have two meals and 2 smoothies a day. Again as far as the meals you can do whichever you like but they make more than one serving so you will not need to make all those recipe choices. I just wanted to give everyone variety. I'm planning on having 2 green smoothies to replace breakfast and lunch then one serving at dinner of either the veggie soup or the veggie quinoa salad.
Nichole
Is there a shopping list available? I am not sure if I missed it...thanks.
Brenda
Nope. Just pick one or two meals form the lunch/dinner options and one smoothie you want to make for the 3 days. You can save the recipes as above each ingredient list for the recipes is a blue save button provided by Ziplist. Once saved you make a shopping list from Ziplist.
Dipika
would like to do this....what is your experience how much weight do you shed!
Brenda
I think I only lost a pound or two myself but more so I was much less bloated, felt more energetic and my tummy was flatter too.

I just finished day 3 of Skinny Ms. detox yesterday -- it was great! I had to add in a spoonful of peanut butter here and there but I can tell you it helped me mentally and physically. I feel great, I feel in control, and I do not have any urge to eat junk! And it really wasn't that tough.
Pat
Please add your citrus Fennel salad recipe to ZipList I would like to make a shopping list for the detox. Thanks
