What is a Sugar Detox?
A sugar detox is when you choose to abstain for all forms of sugar; added sugar, refined sugar and some will argue even natural sugars in fresh fruit should be avoided.
Why would someone do a Sugar Detox?
Anyone who is dealing with sugar cravings would be a could candidate to eliminate sugary foods, refined carbs and processed foods that often contain sugar. Eating whole foods, going back to basics with whole proteins, vegetables, and healthy fats can be all that is needed to reduce and eliminate sugar cravings.
If you are on a weight loss journey, eating too much sugar can certainly stall your progress, cause cravings and spike blood sugar levels.
If you have had a difficult time moderating your sugar intake, the best way to see if you have a sugar addiction problem is to remove sugar cold turkey. That alone will quickly tell you how sugar consumption is effecting you, especially when you remove it for a short time.
Even if you just feel you have a strong sweet tooth or simply just a bad habit of consuming a lot of sugar, doing a 30-day sugar-free diet will benefit you.
What happens when you detox from sugar?
Withdrawal symptoms do occur when you start detoxing from sugar. Typically the worst cravings usually happen within the first 3-4 days as your blood sugar begins to balance.
Withdrawal symptoms usually include; headache, fatigue, brain fog, muscle cramps, and hunger, just to name a few.
My book shares the most important tips and tricks to follow to reduce these withdrawal symptoms as you detox from sugar.
Why is high blood sugar a problem?
Overall health is impacted with high blood sugar. Having high blood sugar consistently can lead to many health problems like inflammation in the body, heart disease, insulin resistance, diabetes, weight gain, mood swings, and can also lead to chronic diseases.
Can diabetics do this sugar detox?
Yes this 30-day sugar detox is appropriate for diabetics as there is two diet tracks to follow, a low carb track or a keto track meal plan. Both are low in carbs and you can pick which best suits your needs.
Do I have to follow a keto diet to do this sugar detox?
No you do not need to follow a keto diet to do this sugar elimination diet for 30 days. The low carb meal plan is a great way to start the program eating everyday foods.
Are there holiday party type recipes in this book?
Not really. The recipes in this book are meant for one person rather than for holiday parties to entertain. If you are looking for holiday recipes for entertaining, my previous cookbook, Naturally Keto would be best.
Can I eat whole grains on this 30-Day sugar detox?
Whole grains are not included in this sugar detox. At the end of the program, there is a testing protocol for re-introducing high carb foods like sweet potatoes, white rice and many other high carb whole foods if you choose.
Are whole fruits, fruit juices and soft drinks allowed?
Low carb fruits are a personal and optional choice to include in the low carb meal plan track. Fruit juices and soft drinks are not allowed on the 30 day program as they have a high amounts of sugar, spike blood glucose quickly and lead to sugar cravings.
Can I have maple syrup on the detox?
No, maple syrup, table sugar, coconut sugar, high fructose corn syrup and many other names of sugar are provided in the book so you are informed and avoid all forms of sugar. Also, you will learn how to read nutrition food labels to make better choices.
Are there egg free breakfast options?
There are a few breakfast options that will feel like you aren't eating eggs for breakfast like, protein pancakes, dairy free waffles, 2-minute English muffin and apple pie dutch baby. But most of the breakfasts do include eggs.
Are the recipes low oxalate?
Many foods for a healthy diet are actually high in oxalates, like leafy greens, almonds, and raspberries. Oxalates are naturally occurring compounds in plants.
Oxalates bind to calcium as they leave the body and in some people can increase the risk of kidney stones. The average American should be able to consume 200-300 milligrams of oxalates daily, but not if you are at risk for kidney stones.
Your doctor can test your levels and determine if you need a low oxalate diet. The good news is that the majority of the recipes in this book are low oxalate.
Are sugar free desserts included in the 30 day detox plan?
Sugar free desserts are not included in the 30 day program but are included as recipes in the book and optional if one chooses to enjoy them during the 30 day detox.
What are the best sugar substitutes?
I only use natural sweeteners in my recipes. Artificial sweeteners are not recommended during the 30 day detox program as studies show they cause cravings and can spike blood sugar levels. My sweetener guide and conversion chart is included in the book.
How many recipes are inside?
Over 90 recipes are included in this 30 day program.
Are there shopping lists included?
Yes, each week of the meal plan includes a shopping list for days 1-7, days 8-14, days 15-22 and days 23-30.
Is the ingredient list hard to find for the recipes?
Not at all. The recipes for the 30 day meal plan include regular foods like proteins, vegetables, and healthy fats.
What type of recipes are they?
All the recipes are gluten free, low carb and/or keto friendly. Breakfast, lunches, dinners, sauces, sides and desserts.
How many total carbs per day in the meal plan?
The low carb diet track has no more than 40 total carbs per day.
The keto diet track has 20-25 total carbs per day.
How much protein is in the meal plan?
Each day whether you are following the low carb diet track or the keto diet track is a high protein meal plan. The average amount of protein per day ranges from 70-125 grams.
Are there vegetarian options?
The program is high protein using animal protein. There are only about 30 recipes that are vegetarian.
Is there a lot of dairy in this book?
About 90% are dairy free and any recipes that include dairy are easy to make optional or eliminate or swap with a dairy free option.
How much time is involved in making recipes for meal plan?
All the recipes in this new book are meant for easy living! I tried my best to provide recipes that only take 30 minutes or less using the stove top, oven or air fryer. I always include oven options for those who don't have an air fryer.
Are they all new recipes?
90% of the recipes in this book are brand new recipes and about 10 recipes are popular ones on my website.
Does every recipe have a photo?
Yes, every recipe included in the 30-day sugar elimination diet has a photo included.
Are the recipes for families?
Not really, though you could increase dinner meals to make more servings.
How many servings do the recipes make?
This book was meant for one person to be able to do the detox with small servings between 1-4.
Is there nutritional information for every recipe?
Yes there is a nutrition label showing you how many total calories, total carbs, dietary fiber, protein, fat per serving.

I started Keto 2 years ago after I got a call stating that I had diabetes. I ordered Naturally Keto and followed Brenda on her blog and FB, one of my many favoriterecipesis the easytaco soup.
